As this satsang occurred on Karthigai Dipam and was part of that celebration, following the initial silence, spiritual instruction was given on the infinite, eternal, self-luminous nature of the Self, in light of two verses by Sri Ramana Maharshi. Dialogues on Siva and Sakti, the desire to remain in one’s true state, freedom from “acceptance and rejection,” freedom from misidentification with the body, transcendence of mental attention in true Knowledge, Self-inquiry, and other topics. Concludes with a recitation in Sanskrit and English of verses from Ashtavakra Samhita.
***** Satsang Quote *****
Questioner: It is a mistake to think that something really occurred when talking about past ignorance.
Nome: When it apparently occurs, for whom does it occur? Inquiring like this you see nothing is occurring and you are not the one who is caught up in it. If it is not occurring and you are still existing, there can be no question about your freedom from it. Just leave off the attributes of the body from association with yourself. You have no beginning, no end, you are not in time and not in space, you have no form and you cannot be perceived. Just leave off associating anything that is conjured up in thought as being yourself. You are not conceivable. You know yourself but not by any concept or perception.
